about us

The lack of academic institutions to coordinate and fund research into Kurdish history and society has meant little research outcome about the Kurds. The oppressive policies that the states of Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria have been pursuing against the Kurds have severely restricted the scope of studies on all aspects of Kurdish society and culture. We aspire to contribute to the advancement of knowledge on the Kurds and the Kurdish Question in the Middle East.

More specifically, we aim to realise the following objectives:
  • to provide a free platform where academic research on the Kurds and the Kurdish Question can be presented;
  • to encourage and support the production and dissemination of research on Kurdish culture, history and politics;
  • to raise the public awareness of the ongoing developments affecting the Kurds and the Kurdish Question; and,
  • to increase networking opportunities for students, academics and researchers
